Tips on Fall Prevention for the Elderly


  • Keep your home well lit and install night lights in case you have to get upElderly People
  • Make sure rugs are securely fastened to prevent a trip hazard
  • Wear shoes with good non slip soles
  • Make sure all electrical cords are away from the area that you walk in
  • Put handrails in the bathroom
  • Try to have handrails on either side of the staircase where possible
  • Exercise daily and incorporate strength training 2-3 times weekly
