Personal Training

We understand that starting an exercise programme can be a daunting prospect. A training session at JT Physiotherapy offers one-to-one Personal Training or Reformer Pilates in a private gym with Liam Leech, our highly qualified Personal Trainer and Lead Reformer Pilates Instructor. Liam gained his BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science Degree at the world-renowned Loughborough University. During this time he became particularly interested in the field of physical fitness and nutrition, in terms of performance and also disease prevention, general health and wellbeing.

After Loughborough he went on to further study, being awarded a Masters Degree in Human Nutrition from the University of Ulster in 2012. Liam is a Registered Associate Nutritionist (ANutr) with the Association for Nutrition (AfN) / UKVRN.

In addition to his academic qualifications, he is also a Stott Certified Reformer Pilates Instructor
and has undertaken further study in:
• Strength & Conditioning
• Personal Training
• GP Exercise Referral
• Occupational First Aid
• Pilates
• Functional Running Analysis & Gait Re-education
• Food Safety & HACCP

Liam is a co-author, with the results of his Masters research project “Vitamin D Status of Elite Irish Athletes” having recently been published. He is also a weekly columnist in the Derry People
Donegal News, writing on subject of nutrition and fitness.

What can I expect?

During your initial consultation Liam will work with you, gathering the information required to design a personalised, comprehensive fitness programme. You will also agree upon a primary goal for undertaking this programme, whether that is weight management, performance or health related. Liam will work with you to set short term achievable goals that will ensure you are consistently moving forward.

You’ll be training in a comfortable, inviting atmosphere where you will enjoy complete privacy while you work with Liam towards attaining your goals.

How many sessions will I need?

This is entirely down to you. A time sensitive goal may require extra sessions in the short term, for
example you have an outfit you need to fit into for a wedding etc. However this is not always necessary and is down to personal preference. In general most people will get excellent results with one to two sessions per week if they are following a healthy eating plan and undertake some light physical activity on the days they are not training in the clinic.
